How Integrated Circuits Are Designed: From Concept to Chip Testing
Entry level courses
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the integrated circuit (IC) design process – from the initial idea and system specification to final chip testing in the laboratory. Participants will learn the key design steps: requirements definition, schematic design, simulation, layout design, design verification (DRC, LVS), preparation of fabrication files, and testing methodologies. The course highlights the differences between PCB and IC design, discusses challenges related to PVT (process-voltage-temperature) variations, and introduces the use of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. It will also show why IC design is essential for creating next-generation systems that cannot be achieved at the PCB level alone.
