MBA Girts Zarins, Riga Technical University

      Timber

Natural wood for construction has limited availability as solid wood, both due being organic material and by wood structure itself. Thu lecture analyzes wood as material and types of engineered wood. Engineered wooden materials area also with improved technical characteristics and reduced defects. As wood of Timber materials are anisotropic, then understanding material is a prerequisite for correct design and then construction. Includes short overview of defects as part of material characteristics.
